Don’t miss out on the documentary film, The True Story of D’Artagnan, which airs Saturday April 10th at 8:30 PM on Arte, and is accessible for replay on Arte.tv
Everyone knows D’Artagnan, the bold musketeer and literary icon of Alexandre Dumas’ world-renowned novel, The Three Musketeers. But did you know that D’Artagnan really existed? Here is a story even more fascinating than the fictional tale. It’s a story of a country boy with an extraordinary fate, becoming Louis XIV’s indispensable right-hand-man. Immortalized by cinema, this very real musketeer could have remained in the shadows of Dumas’ popular hero, had it not been for a few passionate historians determined to discover the true face of D’Artagnan and finally recount his place in history.
